PEER PROJECT: Financed by GEF and Implemented by UNDP

 

PEER Project Steering Committee held its second meeting in 2006.

On Monday December 04, 2006, within the framework of the Regional Energy Efficiency Project (PEER) implemented by    BUN-CA, the second meeting of the Project’s Steering Committee −made up of the Nicaraguan Cleaner Production Center, the Salvadoran Industrialist Association, Panama’s Technological University, and Costa Rica’s Energy Sector Bureau− took place.

The meeting had the purpose of disseminating results achieved in 2006, and  presenting the program of proposed activities for 2007.

On Tuesday November 21, 2006, the National Energy Commission (CNE), the Ministry of Industry, Development, and Commerce (MIFIC), and the Regional Energy Efficiency Program in Central American Industrial and Commercial Sectors (PEER), conducted the “Technical Standardization Workshop for Efficient Electrical Equipment” in Managua Nicaragua, attended by UNDP, suppliers, consultants, the Nicaraguan Chamber of Commerce (CACONIC), the Nicaraguan Chamber of Industries (CADIN), the Engineering University (UNI) and the Customs Office (DGA).

Workshop on “Preventive Maintenance Best Practices”

On Thursday November 30, 2006, within the framework of the PEEST Project, BUN-CA carried out in La Fortuna, Costa Rica, a workshop on “Preventive Maintenance Best Practices” to preserve electro-mechanical hotel facilities, in order to make an efficient use of electric energy and water. This Wokshop was attended by mountain hotels operating in the area of La Fortuna of San Carlos.

BUN-CA will sign a cooperation agreement with the Costa Rican Chamber of Industries.

BUN-CA will sign a cooperation agreement with the Costa Rican Chamber of Industries (CICR). The Agreement aims at identifying opportunities and sharing information to develop specific energy efficiency initiatives and projects in the industrial and commercial sectors.  Signing will take place within the framework of the Regional Energy Efficiency Program (PEER), which is financed by GEF and implemented by UNDP.

 

BUN-CA will sign a cooperation agreement with Costa Rica’s Cleaner Production Center (CP+L).


BUN-CA will sign a cooperation agreement with Costa Rica’s Cleaner Production Center (CP+L). The agreement is meant to strengthen training processes for consultants in the fields of energy efficiency in industrial and commercial sectors, and to provide support to SMEs. Signing will take place within the framework of the Regional Energy Efficiency Program (PEER), which is financed by GEF and implemented by UNDP.

BUN-CA signed with the HIVOS Cooperation Agency a contract to implement the Project known as Costa Rica / Nicaragua “Binational Energy Efficiency Program in the Hotel Sector.” This project will last 18 months, starting on December 15, 2007.
