Workshop “Capacity Building on Energy Audits”, Panama
Last November, BUN-CA organized in conjunction with the Finnish firm MOTIVA and the collaboration of Panamanian institutions the National Secretariat of Energy (SNE), the Technological University of Panama (UTP), and the National Environmental Authority (ANAM), the Second Workshop-Seminar on “Capacity Building on Energy Audits.”
This training complements the efforts conducted by the Government of Panama through the National Secretariat of Energy, in its Program of Energy Audits in the Public Sector, in response to their national energy policy, said Mr. Fernando Diaz, Director of Energy. It was attended by 20 representatives of public institutions who have undertaken a change in the energy management of public buildings.
Seminar for the Establishment of a Permanent Forum on Energy Efficiency in Latin America, Regional
The Regional Director, Jose Maria Blanco, participated in Mexico City last November in the Seminar for the Establishment of a Permanent Forum on Energy Efficiency in Latin America, where representatives of several agencies -linked to the issue of energy efficiency- including the academic and financial sectors as well as national and international experts.
The Forum seeks to create regional spaces for different actors to accelerate energy efficiency markets, which occurs through the substitution of more efficient electrical equipment, the mobilizing of investments and the implementation of best practices (change in cultural patterns of how energy is currently used). BUN-CA in conjunction with MOTIVA Oy, in the framework of project “Capacity Development Regional Energy Efficiency in Central America: the Case of Panama”. Prepared the document “Energy Assessment Guide”, which is available as a reference document to strengthen the technical and educational resources available in the region.
Certification Requirements for Control and Energy Savings in the Hotel Sector, Costa Rica
BUN-CA in conjunction with INTECO, the National Standards Bureau, presented to a group of 15 hotels, the procedure “Certification Requirements for Control and Energy Saving in the Hotel Sector”, with the objective of present a certification option over the control and efficient use of electricity in the hotel facilities. This event was conducted last November, 2010, in La Fortuna de San Carlos, Alajuela, Costa Rica.
The document was reviewed by a group of hotels interested in the certification process and then will be available for those interested in starting a certification process control and saving energy.
